How Does it Work?
As of now, we are completely insured and visit dogs in their homes. A preliminary consultation allows us to meet the dog and get necessary background information, as well as suggest alerting veterinary care providers to the plan for massage therapy.
Routine massage visits occur when a family member is home, but not usually observing the session. From the onset, we try to establish a clinical setting that should be notably different from someone coming to socialize or ‘play and pet’.
The first two massages are typically brief (usually less than 30 min.) and the focus is on building trust, particularly when the goal is to work with muscle soreness or injuries. Depending on the size of the dog, regular maintenance massages last between 20 and 40 minutes and are scheduled every 1 – 2 weeks.
